Measuring.

There's a lot of confusion and debate when it comes to measuring the length of a dick. It seems like every person begins from a different spot.
Some measure from the top of the base to the tip of the head, some claim you have to go along the side, and sometimes once you see it in person you know they started measuring from their asshole.
Its not an overly complex thing to do. Simply follow these two rules and there won't be any more confusion (or disappointment).
1) You begin measuring at the tonsils.
2) Measure in metric: the numbers get bigger quicker.

Locks

ALWAYS Before using any padlock, handcuff, cage, or any other item that has a locking mechanism requiring a key. Verify that you have the key by using it in the lock.
Many keys are hard to tell apart visually so you will guarantee that you do have the correct key. This also checks that the tumbler is not jammed, the keyhole is not plugged, the lock releases, and there's no other damage.

-Keys get mixed up.

-Locks do too.

-Damage isn't always visible.
Finding out that the key is missing or the lock is jammed and won't open after you or your playmate already have some item locked on - not a situation that you would want to find yourself in. Locksmiths are expensive and may only be available limited hours, leather items aren't cheap either and some pieces -of-a-kind, hard to replace, most people don't know how to pick a lock, and Google will only be of so much usefulness, and amputation is probably not a good course of action.

Check your locks/ keys every time that you are going to use them. It's a good habit to have.

Remember: If you end up in a situation with a broken lock /missing key - stay calm. Freaking out will not help. Panicking could cause some options to be more difficult and more likely to fail.

It's far too easy for a complaint to get voiced while too often compliments don't get mentioned. Something as simple as a text, post-it note, instant message or e-mail that says something nice could easily make someone's day better.

Sexual Curiosities

I'm a strong believer that

1) everyone should feel comfortable with themselves to explore their sexually without shame/guilt

2) (if necessary) have a mentor/teacher/partner

* that is experienced and knowledgeable about the topic

* that is able to explain and describe things clearly

* that will answer questions [no matter how silly it may sound]

* is patient and won't rush you or let you rush yourself.

It's easy for a beginner to get anxious, overwhelmed and make mistakes. Potentially become frustrated if it isn't coming along quickly enough. Which can make them want to quit and give up on something that they'd probably enjoy once they got the hang of it.

It happens too often (both sexual and not) that a few speed bumps would get someone to throw in the towel. Having someone around that you can turn to for assistance can save you from giving up too soon.

Never be afraid to reach out when you want to try something new or different. There are a lot of people who know their stuff and would be willing to teach. Doing so is much safer, healthier and more likely to be enjoyed.

When invited to a group event, be sure to give the host some of your attention. This doesn't have to be sexually. Having a little conversation about any topic - get to know each other some if you don't already / or catch up with what has been going on if you do.
It is not important how you do so, just that you do.

Its good manners & it will increase your chances of being invited back for the next party.

Be up front about what you want or would like to have happen. Humans, as a species, totally suck at reading minds. Just lacking when it comes to telepathy. So, if you don't say it - they don't know about it.
If you let it out into the universe, you'd be surprised by what comes back.
Another reason to put your kink out there (within reason - use your brain about where to announce), you have a better chance of finding someone who is what you're looking for and will create the scene with you. Lastly, you'll save quite a bit of hassle by not trying to make somebody fit the bill...

Being naked or nude...

The two words are mostly interchangeable. Much like "" & "tired", where the context defines the users intended meaning...
But "naked" & "nude" sound out almost as if telling you that the user may not be using the right word.
Naked, having a kind of hard sound - just brings the image of being uncomfortable. *"i had that dream where I was naked in front of the entire class"*
Nude, flows off the tongue in a way that implies confidence. *"It was great having the privacy fence that allowed me to sunbathe nude"*
Just a random thought... Now, go enjoy your (or someone else's) nudity today...
